You should feed the pasta through the maker several times until it is paper-thin. This should not only make better tasting pasta, but will additionally mean that it takes a lot less time to cook.

I purchased the Pasta Presto because (a) I had previously owned an Imperia maker and enjoyed making pasta with it (b) I imagined an electronic machine would give me greater control over the pasta making operation and (c) any machine I purchased needed to be free-standing as I would not wish to use a clamp on my marble worktops.
After one month with the Pasta Presto I can recommend it totally. As you'd expect from Imperia, the machine is strong and functional. Making pasta with an electronic machine is so much easier than with my old Imperia hand-cranked one. The pasta is processed both quickly and easily.
The machine is supplied with cutters for fettuccini and tagliatelle and,using the thinner roller settings it is possible to make flat sheets of pasta for lasagne or ravioli. A huge range of other cutters can be purchased .
The Pasta Presto is easy to clean – simply run some spare pasta through it a few times then finish by running through some kitchen towel, folded a few times, through the machine on number 1 or 2 setting. Do not use oil or water on the rollers, as you will end up with a sticky mess inside the machine, making it impossible to clean. When you have finished, allow the pasta over something to air dry a little before cooking. A 'pasta tree' is useful for this purpose. Imperia make an excellent one.
One of the many features I appreciated is the safety guard, this does not permit the machine to work unless it is in the down position. The only negative point is that it does cost more, but if properly maintained, it should last a lifetime.
